About VCCAR
On January 1, 1997, the Camarillo,
Oxnard Harbor and the Ventura Associations of Realtors merged
to become the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors.
At the time of the merger the combined membership of the associations
was approximately 1000. Now the Association has grown to well
over 3000 and is growing.
The purpose of the merging of the three associations representing
six cities - Camarillo, Oxnard, Fillmore, Santa Paula, Port
Hueneme, and Ventura - was to create an entity which improves
the quality of service, not only to the Realtor members, but
also to the public, our clients and customers.
Prior to the merger, the three associations had operated independently,
and at the same time provided similar services to their respective
members as well as to the public. With the creation of the new,
larger association, the overlap of services was eliminated.
The merger allows and encourages the new Association to grow
technologically.
Additionally, the goal was to create a stronger voice for real
estate as an industry as well as for the preservation of private
property rights. This should benefit every property owner in
the greater Ventura County area.
As a result, the Ventura County Coastal Association of Realtors
is now on the Internet with our new Internet based Multiple
Listing Service system, which allows our clients to search for
a home. Along with the training for the new MLS system, the
Association is providing members with ongoing computer training.
Our goal is to keep our agents at the forefront of technological
trends.
